Advancing the Welfare and Quality of Life of Dogs in Rescue Care
The HOME Foundation Corporation is dedicated to advancing the physical, emotional, and behavioral well-being of dogs in rescue care, recognizing that every dog deserves compassionate, individualized support regardless of their medical or behavioral support needs, length of stay, or adoption prospects.
Our mission is rooted in the belief that a dog’s welfare has inherent value, independent of their adoptability.
We provide financial grants to eligible 501(c)(3) rescue organizations to support three essential areas of canine welfare, benefiting dogs preparing for adoption and those requiring long-term, specialized care:
Veterinary Care
Expanding access to essential veterinary services, including diagnostics, medical treatment, pain management, and surgery, particularly for dogs whose medical needs exceed available rescue resources.
Behavioral Health and Well-Being
Supporting individualized, evidence-informed behavioral care that respects dogs’ emotional experiences, behavioral diversity, preferences, and agency.
This includes humane, reward-based training, behavior modification, enrichment, and interventions designed to reduce distress, build confidence, support coping skills, and improve quality of life rather than simply suppress unwanted behaviors.
Welfare-Supportive Environments
Helping rescue organizations create safe, enriching, and adaptable environments that support physical comfort, emotional security, choice, rest, exploration, and species-typical behaviors.
We recognize that good welfare extends beyond the absence of suffering. Dogs should have meaningful opportunities to experience enjoyment, curiosity, play, social connection when desired, and other positive experiences appropriate to their individual needs and preferences.
Our commitment
We believe meaningful welfare outcomes extend beyond adoption. Success may look like reduced fear, improved physical comfort, greater agency, access to appropriate medical care, stronger coping skills, or increased opportunities for positive experiences.
Our commitment is to support each dog’s quality of life throughout their time in rescue care, without making adoption readiness or behavioral conformity the primary measure of success.
We believe that every dog deserves compassionate, individualized care and opportunities to experience safety, comfort, connection, and belonging, regardless of their circumstances, living arrangements, or adoption prospects. Because HOME is more than a place - it's the experience of being safe, supported, and valued.
Grantmaking Status
The HOME Foundation Corporation is currently in its initial funding phase and is not accepting unsolicited grant proposals or funding requests at this time.
